So, here it is my first video tutorial.  Ignore the bad lighting and just focus on how you can create a quick, no sew, superhero cape in under 5 minutes.

Toddler Cool Whip Art

Not every project goes exactly as planned, especially with a two year old who does not like to get his hands dirty. This project was inspired by Lil B’s two aunts, one who used cool whip with her son and the other who was looking for activites for a one year old. Here we go!
Materials: Cool Whip (Publix had buy one get one free).
Kool Aid or Jello or Food Coloring (optional)
wax paper or highchair tray
Activity: Pretty simple, finger painting with Cool Whip. Your child can use their fingers to create a masterpiece by drawing into the cool whip. I recommend covering the surface area with wax paper for easy clean up. If your little one is younger than 2 you may want to go ahead and do the activity in the high chair finger painting right on the tray.. To add color you can add in a 1/2 packet of Kool Aid or Jello packet. We tried both ways. Another option is add a few drops of food coloring to the cool whip. As I mentioned above, Lil B did not want to use his fingers so I did give him a brush and paper….that didn’t work as well.  But it still kept him busy!

Infant Op Art

This one is for all the babies that were just born this past month. I know quite a few! High contrast patterns are suppose to help develop an infant’s eye sight. This is why many baby toys come in black and white patterns. You can make your own with a piece of paper and a black marker. Fold the paper into thirds and create a black and white pattern on each side. You can use lines or shapes, don’t get hung up on making it pretty just create a pattern. Your young one won’t judge your artistic ability but instead enjoy the contrast of the black and white. And for those that are sleep deprived or don’t feel like looking for a marker download the HandMadeArt_InfantOpArt
When giving your baby tummy time prop the pattern in front of your baby like a tent. Miss M is a little old for this activity as she was more interested in trying to grab the tent and put it in her mouth (She is 5 months) but you get the idea!

Something to do while unloading groceries!

Lil B, like any toddler likes to be helpful but sometimes when unloading groceries his helpfulness can be a bit in the way. Here is an easy way to keep your toddler out of the way while putting those groceries away, use paper towels or toilet paper rolls as building blocks. Lil B loved stacking them up and then kicking them down. And I was able to put away all the groceries (on the other side of the kitchen).
